Be Thankful For Taxes

I hope my fellow Torontonians filed their taxes by yesterdays deadline. How else could we fund and provide for our heroic public service providers. Services that are so often taken for granted like Toronto Fire Services. As much as everyone likes to grunt and grown during tax season it is a necessary evil. One only has to look at the outstanding work of the Fire Department and how the handled a dangerous roof fire in less than one hour. Your tax dollars at work indeed!

In the future, please proof-read your posts. It is rather painful to read ‘grown’ instead of ‘groan’ and ‘the’ instead of ‘they’.

The income taxes for 2009, which was due by April 30th, goes to federal and provincial coffers. It is the property taxes that pays for the fire department, none from income taxes.

Yes, income taxes go to the Feds and the Provinces. These are but two of taxing authorities that collect funds to pay for services. As much as people like to complain about paying all forms of taxes these tax revenues provide a lot of the services we take for granted. The Fire Department, public utilities, the military, etc…
