Metropia Part II

Who would have thought that my innocent little post regarding a show based in Toronto, Metropia, would cause such a lash with blunt and in-you-face hatred towards the gay community.

I thought this deserved it’s own entry. Because I for one, was insulted. I for one was disgusted with such a blatant outcry of discrimination and prejudice.

For the most part, Toronto has been a great city when it comes to being open and tolerating of people from different cultures and sub-cultures, including the LGBT community. I must admit that I am spoiled because, or perhaps more sheltered? Because I have always gotten a sense that we, as a city, are winning towards the path of decreasing discrimination. Of course, there is always a bad apple in every tree. And the reality is that it will never be entirely squashed.

For the time being, though, to the last two commenters in the first Metrpia post… I bid you adieu along with a flip of the finger.

By the way… get your facts straight of where HIV originated from.

Didn’t catch the negative comments but then again i’m glad I didn’t. HIV and AIDS still are labeled “Gay diseases” dispite the fact that so many have contracted the disease outside of the LGBT community (i.e. IV Drugs, Crack, even Rape) The majority of people victimized these days are heterosexual. From what I understand (not much…LoL but seriously) the Gay Community has been at the forefront of anonymous STD testing and awareness. That’s probably why there has been a reduction of in new cases in that community. Hate and stigma are never solutions to any issue. [end of World AIDS Day rant]

As far as Metropia is concerned… How can you hate on a show with Maestro Fresh Wes??? LoL
