I got sunshine…. and traffic

ok… maybe it’s not the month of May. But it’s pretty nice weather out there compared to some other March days I can remember in T.O.
Speaking of our fair city… I’ve got a gripe today… traffic.
I live just north of the city and cannot believe the pace at which condos and housing units continue to get built north (and east and west for that matter) of this city without considering transportation gridlock.
The city and its surrounding burbs refuse to cooperate on extending the TTC subway lines… streets don’t get widened… highways don’t get built… something’s gotta give.
Try heading North on dufferin between finch and steeles between 4:30mp and 6:30pm. Fuggedaboutit.
The 404, the 401, the DVP – ha!
Can I get a “hell ya!”?

Hell ya! I live in Mississauga and due to the fact I cannont drop off my toddler at preschool until 8 am – it takes me 2HOURS to get to work. 2 HOURS!! Since I work in the Yonge/Summerhill area SMACK dab in the middle between 401 and the Gardiner. There is NO fast way. I have to wiggle on the Dundas/Dupont route. UGH.

i concur. this is ridiculous. there is so much construction north of steeles now and there is no way to get between the 400 and the 404 without getting on the 4-owe-7. consumers are being lured to buying condo’s (anyone else notice that this city has gone condo crazy?) up there for cheap prices but what’s the point if you’re a 2 hour drive/commute from the city!

oh hell yeah – i agree that toronto is one perpetual traffic mess. the 407 is great, but whose idea was it to make it a toll highway then sell it off to some foreign company?! as far as i’m concerned, the 407 should be a free, if not paid for somehow through the crazy taxes we pay, highway to ease the congestion of the only other highway in this city, the 401.

Personally, I think all highways in Toronto pretty much suck except the 407. So, stop the complaining about the tolls and pay them once in a while ! Its better for the blood pressure. Trust me !

samsung – i’d use the 407 if it was worth it for me… but it woundn’t make sense considering where i have to travel for work. aside from that… just came off a year of maternity leave during which my husband got laid off… yeah. sorry, some of us can only afford complaining. and not a toll. but thanks for the advice.
