Rich Aucoin: Something Different for a Night Out

At a loss for what to do this week? Well, here’s something interesting.

Rich Aucoin is bicycling across Canada on a solo music tour; at the same time, he Is trying to raise money for cancer research, specifically for The Childhood Cancer Foundation (a national charity based, locally, out of Toronto). A non-cyclist when starting out, he’s made it successfully from the west coast and over the Rockies all the way to the south and good old T.O.

He will be at The Horseshoe on July 17. It’s a free show too as it’s Nu Music Night at The Horseshoe. He plays his music synced to how The Grinch Stole Christmas. While listening to him, people can donate at the shows or online via his myspace account. His blog is on thecoast.ca.

Aucoin recorded his album almost all by himself on his laptop; he plays all the instruments on the record (around 25); he wrote it so that it’s perfectly in sync with Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas (1966). Aucoin has toured with The Hylozoists and FemBots. His album is currently in the top 30 (where it’s been for over a month) on CBC Radio 3 and has been in top status on fine college stations too.
