Violence in Toronto Today
I’m angry. Again.
Three guys who were shot ain’t talking. Good news is other people are.
In other good/bad news, the private inquiry into Jordan Manners’ murder has been called off with the appointment by Premier McGuinty of Chief Justice Roy McMurtry (a smart man if I ever met one) and Alvin Curling (he’s okay, he won in Scarborough and did an okay job). The men will probe the trend of youth violence in schools. Possibly also find some solutions maybe, we hope.
What are schools doing? The Toronto District School Board is spending (with some help from the Province, they hope) close to half a million dollards to review safety in schools. Right. We need to spend that money to conclude that there are schools in trouble in Ontario. Geniuses.
At least other people are doing something to actually help Toronto, and they’re Americans. Mayors from large U.S. cities are thinking of inviting Mayor Miller to their coalition to try and reduce illegal guns in their cities. Hey, if the Federal, State/Provincial governments ain’t willing to do something about the problem now, cities must band together to fix the problems themselves. I like it.
Today also saw a jewellery store robbery complete with a firefight, coppers, choppers and hostages. An exciting day in the city apparently.
If you know anything but are afraid to come forward, there’s always Crimestoppers, where you can get Cash Moolah for your anonymous tip.
