Thomson Park

I used to hang out at this park all the time during high school (well, there and at the back of schools trying to get an ollie down…) and haven’t visited it in a little while now. I have fond memories of it though in all times of year.

(ok, really it is called Thomson Memorial Park…)

Winter: Really the hills here are not really anything to brag about but at the back of the park you can find a steep enough drop beside slightly less steep areas to toboggan down. Many families make the trek out here from the surrounding neighbourhood. This link shows a triangular piece of green land, that is the hill I am referring to.

Fall: Memories of BBQ’s and riding bikes around in the “maze” area (in centre of the map) at this section of the park. (Remember finding a “not-too-clean” magazine back there with buds too when we were 13 or so – tsk tsk – it’s almost as if someone left them around on purpose)

Spring/Summer: More BBQ’s and volleyball, Frisbee, baseball games being set up all over. Seemed to me that everyone was in the park and everyone was inviting everyone else to play.

Bad memory? The white-supremacist group Heritage Front members who used to hang out giving Hitler salutes to each other. They would walk up and “gently crash” any after-hours partying going on there… *shudder*
