Sam the Record Man is Closing
Some call it an institution. Others call it a cool place to chill.
Sam the Record Man is closing its Toronto location on June 30, 2007.
Why? A variety of reasons, really. Other retailers which offer lower prices. You know the ones. Rhymes with “Mall Fart.” But mainly it’s the Internet. Cheap or “free” music downloads.
I dunno, man. I always buy the CD but only because I hear the difference between an mp3 and a CD recording. More info here. And here.

I was very sad to read the headlines this morning, it’s like the death of an old aquaintance or figurehead. Wishing you all the best in the future. You and your family must be so proud of all you accomplished over the years, to be the icon that you built, what a dream. And in one of the worlds best, first class cities. Wow! You will be missed.
This is the end of an era folks.
I’m in shock.
Hmmmm….I dunno….remember the store was “closing” a few years ago and Sam had that HUGE inventory blowout sale? The shelves were almost empty and then….”Oh…loook…Sam’s is opening again.” Some BS about the company being in trouble, but then the nephews bought it out and kept it running. Whatever…
Don’t get me wrong. Part of this rant is wishful thinking. I DON’T want the store to close, but if this is another mindf*ck, I’ll be mad…
