Beckham Coming to Toronto

Toronto FCMajor League Soccer got a huge boost today with the signing of David Beckham by the LA Galaxy. This can only be a good news for our Toronto FC.

Beckham, declining talent or otherwise, is still a huge draw. Toronto fans will get a chance to see Beckham play live when the Los Angeles Galaxy visit the Toronto FC at BMO Field (one of the few Soccer-specific Stadiums in the MLS and the 1st in Canada). Torontonians will get to see him, not on the telly, but on the field. You can’t get higher definition than Live.

On a more personal note: I was this close to buying Toronto FC season tickets yesterday night. Now that news of Beckham’s signing has broken, I can’t even log onto to the Toronto FC’s Ticketmaster site. I’d say that’s pretty good news for the Toronto FC indeed. Apparently, there are a lot of Beckham fans in the city. Who knew?

If you’re trying to get tickets, there’s hope. From Toronto FC’s website:

GOAL line hours have been extended to accommodate the increase in season seat sales. You can call Friday from 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., or all next week from 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m

It’s about time the Toronto FC, and MLS in general, gets some play in the media. Now I’m wondering, how many of these people calling the hotline and bombarding the website knew the Toronto FC even existed before today? Did you?
