Review: Warhol @ the AGO

It was great. You should see it.

What? You want more?

Though the audio tour wasn’t even an hour long, you could easily spend hours just being mesmerized by the paintings themselves.

I was particularly haunted by the “disaster” paintings. There was one in particular I couldn’t get out of my head as I rode the TTC home: Saturday Disaster. It’s a series of paintings showing victims of a car crash. One was hunched over an open door as another laid underneath, blood all over his head. Another painting that stuck to mind was one of a beautiful woman who had jumped to her death onto a car. Her body imprinted itself on the roof of the vehicle. Her body, her pose was stunningly beautiful. I get shivers just thinking about it.

The best rating I can possibly give the Andy Warhol Exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario is this: I’m going again.
