Juxtaposition

MetroJuly272006.jpg

I can’t possibly the only person to look at Metro’s headline this morning and smile a happy smile. Which was immediately and inevitably followed by disappointment. Good juxtapositioning there, Metro.

On the plus side, Lance finally admitted what we all knew was true. Ricky Martin, you’re next.

This kind of tricky headline/picture juxtapositioning isn’t new in tabloids, but this is the first time I’ve seen the Metro do it. Shame, shame, Metro. You should strive to be better than that.

Then again, how much can we expect for a free publication? It’s still better than 24 Hours and the now online-only Dose.

i wish i could take back the article i wrote about dose here.

the media is just turning a blind eye. lebanon had the bloodiest day in over a week a couple of days ago and the toronto star had a headline of an elephant dying in the toronto zoo. this is what the bias of media is all about. the metro had some female head shot. i didn’t even bother with 24hrs. the globe had some decent war story but thats about it.

it disgusts me the point that i’ve stopped reading print journalism.

Dose went under a while ago. They cut practically everyone. Heardtell they’re being run by a skeleton crew of very intelligent monkeys on iMacs. Actually, if memory serves me, I think they’ve got a staff of 6 at the moment. It’s sad, but they did tend to focus on entertainment, not news. Eye Weekly is a much better entertainment rag.

    Merci Prof. Arv.

They certainly took the prize for the silliest of the free papers. But in some ways they were just AS silly as the others are at times.

Juste comme your and Abbas’s point.
