History outside your door…#2 and beyond
Exploring the various Metblog cites while not working at work I found something I wanted to explore here. On the Montréal site an author pointed out in a comment that a check in with the official local Heritage group could net info on old sites around the city etc. Well I had no idea that I could actually do the same thing. Duh? Well it was news to me.
So I availed myself of the Heritage Toronto website and learned a great number of interesting things.
The biggest was that from now until October there are Heritage Toronto Walks going on. They can mail you a brochure but you can also check out the different walks going on with them.
One that caught my eye was:
The Battlefield Saturday, July 29 - 11AM
Looted buildings, dozens of casualties, American troops in the streets - this was Toronto in 1813! Retrace the action of the 1813 Battle of York, a significant and bloody day in Toronto’s history.
