Au Revoir, Bonner

“I have to leave a city and a team that I love… I loved playing in Toronto.”

I liked him. He was fun to watch. He wasn’t the fastest, the strongest, the bestest ever player to put on a Raptor jersey, but I liked him.

I’m not really much of a Raptor fan, but I knew enough about the team to know about Bonner. I knew he was a fun guy who loved to ride the TTC to the ACC during home games. I knew that before and after games he had his favourite places downtown to just hang out and just chill. I knew that he loved the city and the city loved him; he even said as much when he first joined:

“I’d play for nothing. I love it here.”

We’re going to miss you, buddy. Hope you have fun in San Antonio.
