ATSA: Attack #12

*WARNING*

The group ATSA (Action Terroriste Socialement Acceptable) have announced that the launch of their attack (#12) against Toronto will be carried out on Friday, February 3rd.

The public is invited…

ATSA began in 1997 in Montreal through the work of two artists, Annie Roy and Pierre Allard. According to their website

their “approach uses the aestheticism and symbolism of art as tools for effecting social change. It creates works that, through the experiences they offer, provoke thought and bring about action. By grabbing passers-by from their daily worlds and ushering them towards a fiction which strangely resembles reality, the works foster an emotional understanding of the problems at hand and generate positive citizen action.”

Attack #12 consists of handing out 11,199 individually numbered, in triplicate statements of offence targeting “oversize vehicles and the excessive fuel consumption associated with them, excessive engine idling, remote engine starters and poorly maintained vehicles.”

The evening will start at 4pm at the Theatre Centre at 1087 Queen St. West and then at 7pm to meet and display the tickets at the YYZ Artist’s Outlet at 401 Richmond St. West, suite 140. Check out their website for more information.

Well, whether hero or annoyance, whether you want to protest them, ridicule them or join them it should make for an interesting exhibit and experiment. I’m working til 7pm that day so I won’t be able to cover the event but should anyone be around the area or read about it please comment. I would love to know what sort of reception this action receives.
