Vote by Issue

Yet another post on the ongoing election. I’ve been trying to determine who to vote for but like many other people out there feel I’m not politically educated enough. Sure, there are many people out there who try to educate me but obviously they all have their own agendas. Eitherways I came across Vote By Issue, a short quiz put together by Canada Votes 2006. According to my result I seem to be pro NDP. Liberals came in second. However wouldn’t suggest people decide on their choice on this alone. Best to have actually seen the All-Candidate Forums and read up on issues.

According to that poll I am also NDP first followed by the Bloc then Liberal (of course Conservative in last but for me that would have been obvious)

The Bloc thing is VERY intersting.. lol

Yes the Bloc are very progressive on somethings. They were, along with the NDP, last election the first to reject the multi-billion dollar (and unproven) missile defence shield. They also supported same-sex marriages. If they weren’t so caught up in SEPARATION… Stating the obvious but ???

As far as “educating” oneself on the “process and parties” that can happen anytime. Whatever the outcome don’t let your MP’s get away with anything. The accountability of a PUBLIC figure is far better than having some PRIVATE element take liberties in some back room.

Ads are not the deciding factor. POLICY. What is real message behind the rhetoric. For example Conservatives have a tax break slant, The Liberals a combo of tax incentives and spending initiatives, NDP are prioritizing social spending (almost zero tax cuts but no increase in tax burden), the Greens are also socially “conscious”. Vote with your heart. There is no right answer, the choice is yours…

    My 2 cents.

    For me it went:

    1. Layton (NDP)
    2. Martin (LIB)
    3. Duceppe (BLOC)
    4. Harper (CON)

Jack Layton and I apparently don’t disagree on anything. I did, however, disagree with Stephen Harper on 5 issues (2 for Martin, 3 for Duceppe).
