SPAM Attack

I just have to…. HAAAAVE TOOOO… complain about the amount of comment junk-spam we’ve been receiving in the past couple of weeks.

I know we’ve always been busy trying to keep this place clean from it, much like other blogs and sites with commenting systems but as of lately, it’s been ridiculous.

However, we here at Metroblogging try our best to filter them out.

For our readers, if you are checking out a comment, hover over the link from any suspicious comment before clicking on it. Just so you can at least checkout the url before you end up viewing a pr0n site somewhere. Well, unless you want to view then… hey, no judgement call from me. :)

But seriously… we can fight dem damn spammers together.

Considered putting in a Captcha (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha)? I use a plugin for WP but I’m sure there must be something for MT. Mine was getting beyond insane. To the point I spent the majority of time deleting stuff in the moderation cue.

My method has been to UNCHECK comments on one of my posts namely “BRO KEN”. It seems the medical, pain killer, and health clinic refernces/links based on my content were attracting wannabe Viagra sellers. Deleting these “pester posts” was annoying so hopefully my change to NO COMMENTS mode will tone down some of the spam…
