I work right next door to them!
ROGERS! The most hated corporation in Southern Ontario. (after Bell maybe).
So a few days ago i got really ticked off that Rogers (the fuckers kept sending me those damn voicemails and text messages on my phone and i got about ten in one day. So I ripped this email down their throat. Their reply follows below. Though they didn’t really do much but at least now i know how to frickin opt-out of their lame advertising. Hopefully this helps someone else out as well.
You know the worst is the voicemail, the service you pay for people to leave you important messages, that you pay to call to retrieve your messages from your phone, just shows up without the phone ringing. That usually ends up in me the dumbass thinking that I was underground in the subway or in an elevator and lost connection for a minute and someone I KNOW may have left me a message. And then you call up your voicemail to hear this asshole marketing guy helping you get out of debt. It’s just not cool. Irony, I work right next door to them downtown at Bloor and Jarvis.

please guide me to the website where it is possible to opt-out of the text messages that are sent by rogers. your current website as it stands makes it extremely difficult to navigate to the site where such an option is available. the website sent by rogers to opt-out currently is rogers.com/wp which produces a blank page. please hire a web designer that can either make proper webpages or stop sending incorrect information in your marketing ads. also upon signing the rogers contract, please train your salespeople to inform the customer that they will be recieving these messages as the CUSTOMER IS PAYING FOR THEM to be recieved. i would appreciate a prompt response to this email.
sincerely,
- abbas halai.

so phone-spamming has hit canada….? ugh. i think bell is thus far free of it. (in b.c., at least.) i did get one of those ring-free messages (for some change to bell service) and i guess they KNOW you still check those, you can’t trash them as quickly as you would if bell sent an email.
thanks for the link, abbas. i’ve used it because i’m sick and tired of those text messages.
Yeah the text message ads suck. But the good news is you aren’t actually paying to receive text messages. I didn’t realize Rogers did spam voicemail though, that’s wrong since you do get charged for checking your voice mail.
Thanks for the link.
Fido all the way. :). Even though their reception sucks but atleast I’ve never had spam problems.
Who do you think owns FIDO? ROGERS, that’s who. And Telus is now BELL. So much for choice in cell phone service in Canada.
I would have to say that ROGERS is the most hated corp in the golden horseshoe. Bell comes a close second. DSL is slower then ROGERS, cell phone service is OK, but the changing contracts and offers are enough to drive ya nuts. That said, we don’t get emails or phone MSG’s we don’t want or didn’t ask for. They leave ue alone for the most part.
At least in our experience!
