Random Connections = Hi 5’s

Well I went 3 for 3. One of my friends missed the Friday Toshack show in Hamilton. Since the best of the best was to be the show that rolled into Toronto at the Drake I buckled and went to yet another. Not disapointed at all. Both Sian and Toshack have a style that’s so refreshing especially these days. The sound was soooo much better at the Drake too. The Underground at the Drake is a great venue to see music. DJ DigDug filled the mix quite well with 60’s psychedaelic tracks in between the sets too. A bonus treat.

One of the best parts of seeing LIVE music is that you are part of it. Artist/listeners. Applause, requests, perhaps some dialogue. You can’t download that. Artists will feed off the crowd, and crowd from an artist. I have to say I prefer smaller shows to mega stadium rock. Something about being a few feet away from the human making the music; small shows are more intimate. It’s often a meeting of like minds too. A chance to meet new friends or share good times with old ones. Tonight I had the pleasure of bumping into an old friend I hadn’t seen in 7 YEARS!!! Brendan Fenn. The man’s been shooting AMAZING photos both here and in NY and is back in the city. He did some photos for SIAN and was taking in Drake show too.

WoW. I love when a plan comes together. Unexpected coincidences, good tunes, good friends and good times!

if you ever get a chance, head up to the orbit room on wednesday nights. lmt connection plays there, and they play one mean show.

or for that matter, any other night, they have some kick ass bands playing.
