Gobble Gobble Grenadier Restaurant.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving long weekend.

I know we had our fair share of food. And most definitely a lot of wine. And beer. And Irish Baily. And grappa. And irish whiskey. Unforutnately, that encompassed just Sunday night alone when we found ourselves socializing at a gathering of two different sites of my friends’ family.

The italian side introduced the grappa and the irish side introduced the irish wiskey. Everything inbetween was… well… just there.

God bless babysitting and designated drivers.

Having said that… the day started out sober enough. My parents-in-law were in town and we took them and our daughter to High Park.

What long weekend would be complete without a big, satisfying Sunday brunch?

We took them to Grenadier Restaurant which is located right in one of the central parking lots within the park. If one takes High Park Road into the park, keeps to the right, the parking lot and restaurant will show up on the right.

It’s a bit chilly for patio weather so we ducked inside, but there were plenty of people sitting outside in their fall gear, sipping coffee in the sun.

Most definitely a worthy place to check out. Price is extremely reasonable and the food is excellent quality. Plus, you can take a nice walk in the park afterwards to walk off some of the good eats!

Holiday Connections… Always GREAT!!!

Whoa! What a great weekend! Old friends and family. A lot to be thankful for. I had a mini reunion of old sk8 buds on Sunday at the Markham demo. Eight years later we are couple of corporate finance dudes, a systems professional and a professional skateboarder. So good to see our friend doing so well both on and off the board. After getting dazzled by the demo talent we all were able to catch up after the autograph sessions. The “tour” can’t be easy but with big endorsements and travel (Spain, Australia, Greece, California) we almost wish we left with the circus too…LoL AWESOME catching up!

Getting together with the family today was great too. Looking forward to catching some zzz’s and resting for the return to the grind… TIRED and on the verge of sick. At least I’ve no OT this week, or much…. DOH!!

Haunted Wonderland - Fearfest

Now having never been I don’t know how this will be..in fact I actually have never heard about this event in all my time living in Toronto. Ah well.. my friend Laura invited me so now I am inviting Toronto.

From 5 - 11pm - Friday, October 14th until Monday, October 31st (on select dates) Fearfest comes to Paramount Canada’s Wonderland.

The following is a description of Fearfest from their website:

The park will be transformed into a frightening, dark, haunted theme park, with three bone-chilling and horrifying themed areas, new spine-tingling attractions, thrilling rides and over 100 scaractors, ghastly creatures and menacing mazes.

Go directly to this web page to view the details on the various attractions and events offered on these days.

Quake hits South Asia

Please pray for all those being affected in South Asia. Lahore and Karachi metroblogs are doing a superb job of covering the news.

Go over and catch the latest on whats happening, and if you can send some relief over then please to do so.

Family Camping At Sibbald Point

Last month, my husband and I took our daughter camping for the first time.

It was… incredible.

Just to get away from the city which I think is healthy to do at least once a year.

It’s just that Toronto can be such a fast past during our daily grind that getting away for some fresh air, for little to zero technology, and no noise polution helps to ease the mind a bit. And best of all, we found a campground that banned alcohol for from September 1-5 which was perfect for family camping.

Time always seem to stand still when we go on our little escapes…

Unfortunately, we didn’t get much sleep. Our daughter was too excited to go to bed at her normal bedtime and didn’t understand the concept of sleeping in a sleeping bag.

She also wanted to sleep while slumped over my head for most of the night. Goodness…

back in the chain gang

so we’re back with the hockey season. the leafs just lost their opener and mats the captain. let’s just hope we don’t get demolished by the habs tomorrow who are 2 and 0 at this point. that will be extra salt on an open wound.

i’m just glad sundin will be recovered in a month or so and that it isn’t later in the season going into the playoffs. let’s see how eric holds up. lets see if he can follow up with his claims of being a leader. i’m sure swoon and stephen will have more to say on this.

To The Lions

From the remnants of other HC bands… TO THE LIONS…

‘Formed in January 2005, To The Lions features current and former members of Grade, Confine, Boys Night Out, Beaumont, The Swarm, Trunk, 78 Days and many other Canadian punk/hardcore bands.
Don’t ask us about promo photos, booking agents, managers, myspace pages or “how many units we’re gonna move in the first week”. We’ve been there and we’re not going back.
Our goal with this band is to play a ton of shows, have fun, and give our music to anyone who wants it. See you upfront and in the pit.’

Got their demo free at the MARE/CURSED/TERROR/CONVERGE show. Good stuff… They play Burlington’s Formac tonight if this is not enough of for ya…MUSIC

Eric Koston, Rick McCrank, Jereme Rogers, Brian Anderson

A few of the names whow will be at the FREE demo in Mississauga tonight, at West49’s Yonge & Eglinton location Saturday, and in Markham Sunday. Get your skate and turkey on this weekend. Your last chance to see the some of the best in the world and this week (unlike the contest)… FREE

Leafs tonight baby!

I was waiting for Swoon to write this post up, but by my writing this now I can request a review of the game afterwards. (hint hint - I don’t have TV access and being sick precludes my going out somewhere)

Tonight at 8pm, the Toronto Maple Leafs face the Ottawa Senators at the ACC in their first game of the season. It will be aired on TSN and AM640. The Leafs haven’t been getting the best of reviews this year when compared with the other teams, but I am firmly stating my allegiance now come weal or woe!

Nerds On Site

While stopped at an intersection a couple of days ago, a red Beetle pulled up beside me.

And I just had to stare… for the advertisement across the enter car was www.nerdsonsite.ca.

Honestly - I was impressed. It was definitely done very tastefully but just the url name itself was an eye-catcher! Bravo! Truely a good handle of marketing and advertising technique.

I also happened to get a glimpse of the young woman sitting the passenger seat and… hot tamale.

Pretty looking nerd if you ask me!
