Nerds On Site
While stopped at an intersection a couple of days ago, a red Beetle pulled up beside me.
And I just had to stare… for the advertisement across the enter car was www.nerdsonsite.ca.
Honestly - I was impressed. It was definitely done very tastefully but just the url name itself was an eye-catcher! Bravo! Truely a good handle of marketing and advertising technique.
I also happened to get a glimpse of the young woman sitting the passenger seat and… hot tamale.
Pretty looking nerd if you ask me!

I remember a time in the past when I found a website from Ontario that offered to either paint your car with ads, (and they would pay you to allow it) or would give you a cheap car with ads on it for free if you drive a certain amount of the time in a wide enough area.
I think they took that site down but it was a great idea. And the ad cars do get attention. Now whether they distract or not is another topic but I looked at that site you linked too and the car does just seem eye catching! Not a bad idea at all.
Not taking into account having advertisments everywhere or what that does to people etc. Without the sociological impact this may have, I LOVE the idea of a free car..ok?
I’ve almost used nerdsonsite before as computer repair persons. They even wear uniforms and one of their people was in the building where I used to work.
They offer a good service, although I can’t speak to whether or not they do a good job. I do know that they’re pretty expensive. I forwarded their number to a friend with a computer problem and they told him that it would be $160 just for them to come and have a look at it.
As a working Nerd, with my own “nerdmobile” and proud partner of a Hot Tamale who often sits shotgun in the car:
Jafer, I feel it’s important to tell you that there isn’t one Nerd in the GTA who would tell someone that it would be $160.00 to “just come out and look” at a computer. This has got to be a misunderstanding on your friends part.
We bill flat-rates and not hourly rates, so likely your friend was quoted a flat rate to clean up the system, and not just for a look.
I’ll be fair though - yes, $160 is about right for a full blown system cleanup. This would take care of all temp files cluttering up the pc, any spyware/adware, viruses/trojans/etc and clean up the startup items to a manageable, necessary few.
Oh, we’d also ensure all windows updates and antivirus updates were applied as well. Usually takes between 1-2 hours, depending on how fast your PC is.
Shy, can I ask at what intersection you were stopped? Just curious if I can guess at which Nerd/Tamale combo you spotted!
Happy for the opportunity to clear this up,
Sean K
