Total Madness…

The W49 contest ended with some serious madness. I’ve never seen a tighter competition. Much of the contest was in the form of a “jam” or group format. This meant 6 or more competitors lining up or stealing a chance to throw themselves up, down, over or on to the obstacles. The finals seemed like a pinball game or something. Everyone was going off and all over the course. It was hard to catch everything and so many insane tricks were landed. I know why there were so many tie scores.

In the end some Toronto locals came home with some cash. Jesse Landen earned some US$ getting 2nd in one of the handrail best trick sessions for a clean kickflip feeble. CBMK’s own Lee Yankou also took 2nd place in the Super handrail portion of the best trick comp for his back smith. Chad Albert rounded out the Toronto content with a top 5 placing in the super step up gap with a 360 flip shuffle to fakie. Not too bad!

Local or international, EVERYONE skated well. I’ve been to every one of these W49 comps and it’s good to see them get better.
