Shy’s Good, Bad and Ugly #8
The Good
Dim Sum. Gotta love it. And there’s a huge variety of restaurants that serve dim sum daily in Toronto. Mainly in areas concentrated with Chinese shops.
I’m going for dim sum tomorrow with good friends and honestly… YUM!!!
The Bad
Not so much a bad but a reality… as dim sum on weekends is a huge thing. You know that saying… The early bird catches the worm! Well… so will it get a table while avoiding a long line up.
The Ugly
Watch out with where you go… they raise the prices on weekends for some of the more popular places. Some even charge more just by seating you in one of the back-rooms.
However, if you choose the right place, even if you pay a little extra, the food is very much worth it.

Which Dim Sum Reso do you frequent? I want to go to a place downtown (preferrably) that is clean, affordable, and has a good variety of dishes.
I use to go to one over by Riverdale hospital in Chinatown East. I don’t know if it’s still there.
I have never had dim sum or even been to one of the many restaurants in Toronto.
What the heck is it, anyway?
dhalia - sorry, we don’t go to downtown ones because we live in the east end. the one i go to is at Market Village. Kennedy and Steeles. unfortunately, i never pay attention to what it’s called in english. but it’s at the very far, west end of the strip mall. right next to Curry’s art supply store. can’t miss it! tastey and cheap.
jafer - it’s basically like tapas but all chinese food. you have it with chinese tea and it’s a huge social-thing. the more, the better because you order these little small dishes and share. and it’s only available for morning until early noon. if you go during the week, you can go as low as $1-1.50 for most dishes.
