Reak-o-RAMA!
A couple of weeks ago, I complained about smelling rotting garbage here and there.
This week, I’ve come to the realization that it is a constant smell just a little north from where we live. And it is horrible. Everyday on the way to and back from work, I get hit with a wave of stench that is sour and pugnent.
Not fun at all.
I did some investigation and found that there is indeed a garbage dump near by. It’s not visible when driving by the area as it’s kept behind other buildings.
What’s worse is the residential areas around it. I feel sorry for those who live so close by. A slight wind or mere breeze can send the stench to travel quite far.
It’s not exactly the smartest place to have a garbage dump.

There are a couple of really bad intersections around the city (for smell).
One is Yonge and Dundas, and another is Yonge and King.
There’s not even a garbage dump by there, just something wafting around the neighbourhood in the mornings and when it’s really hot out.
it stinks at victoria and adelaide as well!
Just west of Front and Bathurst, at the bottom of Tecumseth, is an abattoir (one of the many pig slaughterhouses once located in Toronto from which the name Hogtown is derived) which is the source of much of the putrid stench. However, I’m still not sure that even the combination of both the dump and the abattoir could produce the gag-inducing cloud of stink at Front and Bathurst.
