Sidewalk Surprises

Two Things I Did Not Expect to See on Toronto’s Sidewalks Yesterday, on opposite sides of the class spectrum

1. A foomfy-dressed opera singer accompanied by a string quartet outside of Harry Rosen on Bloor.

2. A gentleman taking a whiz in the middle of the afternoon on Brunswick, just standing on the sidewalk peeing into someone’s yard. Classy nabe, the Annex…

In regards to the second one, what does one do when faced with such an encounter? Fortunately, I was already on the opposite side of the street. But should I have addressed the issue in some way? Called out some sort of reprimand? To be honest, it took me a minute to realize exactly what I was seeing.

I’m wondering if the residents of Brunswick st are used to the urine. It goes hand in hand with living so close to the Brunny. However, since the addition of windows, I assume the Brunny is trying to class up it’s image. Therefore, no excuses for whip-it-out man.

I remember the good ole days of U of T when one day, I happened to be waiting for the Spadina subway.

While standing there on the platform, I found myself moving a little further along as I feared getting urine splatter from the homeless man who decided to take a piss against the Spadina Subway wall.

As if I didn’t encounter enough ‘shocks of the day’ on my daily commute to and from campus.
